Getting Started

1. Review Your "Welcome Setup" email within 2 hours after placing your order, we will process and setup your Web hosting account,. Your "Welcome" email will have all your access codes for FTP and your Admin Control Panel - Which provides access to Webstats, databases, webmail etc. Do not lose this Email since it has all your username and passwords.
   
   

2. Domain Names - New or Transferred. New Domain name - If you brought a new domain name through OCC, we'll register the domain name on your behalf. Your domain name will be fully active within 12-24 hours after the registration. Once it is active, you will be able to access your website by going to http://www.yourdomain.com on your browser. For the mean time, you can access your website with the IP address provided in your webcome email until your domain name is registered. .
   
   If your transfering your domain, the welcome email will iclude your DNS information, you can make the change, or If you wish, provide OCC with the user name and password to your domain and we'll gladly make the changes for you at no charge.
   
   
   Domain Registrar Transfers - Already have a Domain registered through Network Solutions or another registrar and you don't wish to pay $35.00/yr for renewal, when you can pay only $15.95/yr, go to our "Quick Transfer" and we'll transfer your domain to OCCHosting - never pay $35.00 per domain for renewal's again.
   

   
   

3. Propagation of your domain name - (new customers) Before you can utilize all of OCChosting services and features (Email, WebMail, FrontPage, Web Stats, Miva Merchant etc..), your domain name must be pointed to our DNS servers - . Propagation is the time it takes for all the Internet service providers around the world to update their information with ours.
   
   Here is a simple way to find out if your domain is pointing to OCCHosting, put your domain name in your favorite browser and if you see the OCCHosting Welcome banner with your domain name displayed, then your domain name has been propagated and your website is live - otherwise give it some more time, make sure your domain DNS is set to OCCHosting - if in doubt, send OCCHosting support a email. .Please include you domain name with all correspondences
   
   

4. Uploading to your website There are three different ways of uploading your files. 1) you can use your own FTP program to upload your files to the server. 2) You can use FrontPage, - you must notifiy OCCHosting support to enable FrontPage extensions for your domain in order to publish your website. 3) Use our Admin Control Panel file manager.

   
   

5. Your new domain default "catch-all" Email is the Email address we receive with your hosting application - You can always change this using the Admin Control Panel, - Login, select the properties button to make changes don't forget to click update - because of spam, by default we turn off the catch-all setting.
   
   

6. One important thing to look for is the bandwidth allowance, meaning how much data can be transferred monthly before you have to pay extra. You can easily calculate how much you will need. Multiply the size of your biggest page with all the graphics by the number of impressions you estimate your site will get. For example: 50KB X 10,000 = 500,000KB, in other words you'll need 500MB if your site generates 10,000 page views monthly. Never settle for less than 1 Gigabyte, and watch out for companies that try to convince you that 500MB is enough.
